Lovers Layer Cake

Ingredients

• 1 box white cake mix, batter prepared according to package instructions
• 1 tsp Amoretti® Natural Strawberry O.S. Extract
• 2 cups buttercream (try our Swiss Buttercream or Classic American Buttercream) 
• Amoretti® Red W.S. Food Color  or Amoretti® Natural Red W.S. Food Color

• 4 heart-shaped cake pans
• 3 pastry bags
• assorted tips

Directions

1. Prepare and bake cake as directed on packaging, adding Natural Strawberry Extract.
2. Divide batter between 4 heart-shaped cake pans and bake according to package instructions, reducing bake time to account for smaller cakes.
3. Let cake layers cool completely.
4. Divide buttercream into four bowls.
5. Start with a few drops of Red Food Color and gradually increase the amount with each bowl of buttercream until you reach your desired colors. We used 2 drops, ¼ teaspoon, and 1 teaspoon Red Food Color and left one bowl white for contrast.
6. Using an assortment of tips, pipe the colors over each layer.
