Simple Syrup
Simple syrup is a mixed drink staple. Making your own at home is so quick and simple, you'll love having it on hand for everything from cocktails to lemonade for the kids!
SIMPLE SYRUP
Makes 4 cups.
Ingredients
- 4 cups sugar
- 4 cups water
Directions
- Pour water and sugar in a pot and turn on heat.
- Heat until sugar has dissolved completely and there is steam rising from the top of the liquid.
- Remove from heat.
- Cool to room temperature before refrigerating in an airtight container.
FLAVORED SIMPLE SYRUPS
Makes 1 cup.
Ingredients
LEMON THYME SIMPLE SYRUP- 1 cup Simple Syrup, hot
- ½ tsp Amoretti® Thyme W.S. Extract
- ¼ tsp Amoretti® Lemon Zest Oil W.S. Extract
- 1 cup Simple Syrup, hot
- ½ tsp Amoretti® Rosemary W.S. Extract
- ¼ tsp Amoretti® Mandarin Zest Oil W.S. Extract
Directions
- Add extracts to the hot simple syrup and stir gently to combine.
- Cool to room temperature before refrigerating in an airtight container.
- Using extracts instead of fresh herbs, this syrup will last for months in the refrigerator.
- If flavoring Simple Syrup, do so while hot.
MANUKA HONEY & SAGE SIMPLE SYRUP
Makes 2 cups.
Ingredients
- 1 cup manuka honey
- 1 cup water
- ¼ tsp Amoretti® Sage Dalmatian W.S. Extract
Directions
- Heat a small-ish pot over medium-low heat and pour honey into it. It will gradually bubble and rise in the pot, let it caramelize for a bit.
- Once it bubbles up pour the water in and whisk to dissolve honey.
- Bring to a simmer and then turn off heat and add Sage Dalmatian Extract.
- Strain into a container and cool to room temperature before refrigerating in an airtight container.
