Red Hot Heart Cookies
Cute cookies are perfect for Valentine's Day!
Ingredients
COOKIES- 2 cups all purpose flour
- pinch salt
- ½ tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp ground star anise
- 1 cup sugar
- ½ cup (1 stick) butter, room temperature
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp Amoretti® Vanilla Madagascar Bourbon W.S. 2X
- 2 tsp Amoretti® Cinnamon Extract W.S.
- ½ tsp Amoretti® Clove Oil Extract O.S.
- 1 egg white

- ⅔ cup butter, room temperature
- 1¾ lbs powdered sugar
- ½ cup milk
- 2 tsp Amoretti® Vanilla Madagascar Bourbon W.S. 2X
- ¾ tsp Amoretti® Orange Zest Oil Extract O.S.

Directions
COOKIES- Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment and set aside.
- In a bowl combine flour, salt, baking powder and star anise. Set aside.
- Cream sugar and butter together until fluffy.
- Add egg, Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla, Cinnamon Extract, and Clove Oil Extract. Mix until combined.
- Stir in dry ingredients until just combined.
- Roll out dough to ⅛”. Use a heart cutter and place onto lined sheet pan.
- Brush hearts with egg white and sprinkle with sprinkles OR leave plain if you plan to decorate with icing.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes until edges are barely golden.
- Cool completely before decorating with Orange Zest Icing.
- Beat the butter with the powdered sugar.
- With the mixer running, slowly pour in milk. Scrape down the bowl.
- Add Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla and Orange Zest Oil Extract.
- Use immediately or refrigerate until ready to decorate, bring to room temperature before using.
