Cherry Covered Chocolate Waffles

For Valentine's Day make a delicious romantic breakfast that your Valentine will cherish and appreciate!

Ingredients

CHOCOLATE WAFFLES
  • 2 oz (½ stick) butter
  • 4 oz chopped dark chocolate
  • 1½ cups all purpose flour
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • ½ cup dark cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp Amoretti® Vanilla Madagascar Bourbon W.S. 2X
CHOCOLATE WHIPPED TOPPING CHERRY TOPPPING GARNISH
  • powdered sugar
  • mint leaves
SPECIAL EQUIPMENT
  • waffle iron

Directions

CHOCOLATE WAFFLES
  1. Preheat waffle iron for about 10 minutes. Preheat oven to 200℉.
  2. Melt butter and chocolate together. Set aside to cool slightly.
  3. Add dry ingredients to mixer: flour, sugar, dark cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk to combine.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together buttermilk, eggs, and Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla.
  5. Pour the wet ingredients into the mixer with the dry ingredients and blend together.
  6. Fold in melted chocolate.
  7. Add batter to waffle iron and cook for about 2-5 minutes until crisp.
  8. Continue until all the batter has been used. Transfer waffles to the oven to keep warm.
CHOCOLATE WHIPPED TOPPING
  1. Whip cream, cocoa powder, Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla, and powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
CHERRY TOPPING
  1. Heat cherries, Kirsch Syrup, and Agave Nectar on low heat until warmed through.
TO SERVE
  1. Dust plated waffles with powdered sugar.
  2. Add a dollop of Chocolate Whipped Topping.
  3. Top it off with a spoonful of Cherry Topping and a mint leaf.
