Caramel Apple Cake Pops
Moist cake pops are flavored with Amoretti® Sweet Apple Water Soluble Extract and Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla Water Soluble Extract, giving them a crisp, sweet apple taste balanced with warm vanilla undertones.
The pops are coated in a white chocolate shell flavored with Amoretti® Caramel Oil Soluble Extract, adding a rich, buttery caramel note that complements the apple perfectly. Creating the “mummy” design is simple—just drizzle or pipe thin lines of white chocolate over each pop to give them a playful, spooky look.
These cake pops are not only flavorful but also easy to make, making them perfect for family baking or quick Halloween treats. They hold up well for parties, trick-or-treat gifts, or even a festive snack at home, with every bite delivering a delicious combination of apple, vanilla, and caramel.
Ingredients
Cake
- 1 Box of yellow or white cake mix (prepared as directed)
- 1.5 tsp. Amoretti® Sweet Apple Water Soluble Extract
Frosting
- 1 & 1/2 tbsp butter
- 1 & 1/2 tbsp cream cheese
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- pinch of salt
- 1/8 tsp Amoretti® Vanilla Madagascar Bourbon Extract 2X
Chocolate
- 2 & 1/2 cups of white chocolate
- 2 tsp Amoretti® Caramel Extract OS
Directions
Cake
- Preheat your oven according to the boxed cake mix instructions.
- Prepare your box cake mix Add the Amoretti® Sweet Apple Water Soluble Extract to your boxed cake mix and mix according to the package directions.
- Bake as directed on the box.
- Allow the cake to cool completely, about 2–3 hours at room temperature, or you can let it rest overnight for convenience.
Frosting
-
In a large bowl, beat the butter and cream cheese together until smooth and creamy.
-
Gradually add the powdered sugar, a pinch of salt, and the Amoretti® Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla Water Soluble Extract. Mix until the frosting is fully combined and no clumps remain.
Chocolate
- Place the white chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl.
- Melt the chocolate in 30-second increments, stirring in between, until smooth.
- Once melted, stir in the Amoretti® Caramel Oil Soluble Extract until fully incorporated.
Assembly
- Using your hands, crumble the cooled cake into small pieces in a large mixing bowl.
- Add the frosting to the cake crumbs and mix until the mixture comes together and no large chunks remain.
- Roll the cake-and-frosting mixture into even-sized balls and place them on a tray.
- Dip each cake pop stick briefly into the melted chocolate, then insert one stick into each cake ball to help secure it.
- Place the assembled cake pops in the freezer for 20–30 minutes to set.
- Once firm, dip each cake pop into the caramel-flavored white chocolate, letting any excess drip off. Immediately add your eyeball sprinkles while the chocolate is still wet. Allow to set for 5–10 minutes.
- Transfer the remaining melted chocolate into a piping bag. Cut a small tip and drizzle the chocolate over each cake pop in a back-and-forth motion to create “mummy bandages,” avoiding the eyes.
- Let the cake pops set completely for another 10 minutes before serving.
- Enjoy!
