How to Make Peppermint Bark Without Seized Chocolate
Peppermint bark is a simple holiday treat that’s quick to make and always a hit. With white and dark chocolate, a hint of peppermint, and a heavy sprinkle of candy canes, it’s perfect for parties or gifts!
Using the right ingredients is key to getting smooth, professional results. That’s why we use our Peppermint Oil Soluble Extract in this recipe. Unlike water- or alcohol-based extracts, which can cause chocolate to seize and become lumpy, this oil-based extract blends seamlessly into melted chocolate without any issues. It even helps the chocolate set faster, giving you glossy, solid layers every time.
Ingredients
- 16 oz white chocolate
- 12 oz dark chocolate
- 1 teaspoon Amoretti® Peppermint Oil Soluble Extract (½ tsp per chocolate layer)
- Crushed candy canes
Instructions
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
- Melt the dark chocolate in the microwave in 30-second bursts, stirring each time. Once melted, mix in ½ teaspoon of Amoretti® Peppermint Oil Soluble Extract.
- Spread the dark chocolate evenly on the prepared pan. Chill in the fridge for 20 minutes to set.
- Melt the white chocolate the same way. Stir in the remaining ½ teaspoon of peppermint extract once the chocolate is completely melted.
- Pour the white chocolate over the dark chocolate and spread it evenly.
- Sprinkle crushed candy canes on top while the white chocolate is still soft. Press them gently to help them stick.
- Let the bark chill in the fridge. Once firm, break into pieces & enjoy!
