Cinnamon Bun Crumb Donuts

It's the combination of two of the best breakfast treats, in one. Made with our Amoretti® Natural Cinnamon Bun Artisan Flavor, the base of this donut is the perfect blend of sweet and spice.

Top this donut off with a simple, yummy, sweet vanilla bean glaze for an extra bit of flavor.
The glaze is just your standard glaze recipe, but instead of using vanilla extract or buying expensive, fresh vanilla beans, we opted for our Amoretti® Natural Vanilla Bean Artisan Flavor.
It's filled with real vanilla bean specs, highly concentrated (a little goes a long way!), shelf stable, and just delicious.

These donuts are perfect for parties, brunch, kids, and even the pickiest of eaters!
Ingredients
For the Crumb Topping:
- 1/3 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 & 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup + 2 Tablespoons all-purpose flour
For the Donuts:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs, room temperature
- 2/3 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1/2 cup milk, at room temperature
- 1/2 cup sour cream, at room temperature
- 1 tbsp Amoretti® Natural Cinnamon Bun Artisan Flavor
- 2 teaspoons Amoretti® Vanilla Madagascar Bourbon (2X) W.S. Extract
For the Glaze:
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 2 teaspoons to 1 tablespoon of milk (amount depends on how thick of a glaze you want)
- 2 Teaspoons of Amoretti® Natural Vanilla Bean Artisan Flavor
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350°F & prep two 6-count donut pans with butter or nonstick spray.
For the Crumb Topping:
- In a medium bowl, mix the brown sugar, granulated sugar, and cinnamon together. Stir in the melted butter with a fork, then add the flour. Mix and crumble with a fork. Set aside.
For the Donuts:
- Whisk all the dry ingredients together in a large bowl. Set aside. Whisk the melted butter, eggs, brown sugar, milk, yogurt, and Amoretti® Natural Cinnamon Bun Artisan Flavor & Amoretti® Vanilla Madagascar Bourbon (2X) W.S. Extract Extract together until completely combined. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until combined. Do not overmix. The batter will be very thick.
- For ease, place batter into piping bag. Cut about 3/4 of an inch off the bag and pipe into the off the bottom of the bag and pipe the batter into each donut cup, filling about halfway. Grab a handful of crumb topping and press down onto the batter of each donut. Pressing it snug into the batter helps prevent the crumb coating from falling off the donuts.
- Bake for 10-11 minutes or until the edges and tops are lightly browned. Allow to cool for about two minutes then transfer to a wire rack set on a large piece of parchment paper.
For the Glaze:
- In a medium bowl, combine the powdered sugar and milk. Whisk until glaze is thick. A happy medium between thick and runny will work perfectly for this recipe. You want the glaze to stay on top of the donuts, not seep in.
- Add in the 2 teaspoons of Amoretti® Natural Vanilla Bean Artisan Flavor and mix.
- Drizzle across the top of the donuts.
- Wait until glaze has set & enjoy!
