Chai Tea Latte Cupcakes

Do you love chai tea lattes and cupcakes? Well these babies are the best of both world. The light and fluffy cupcake is overflowing with bold chai tea and spice flavor and topped off with a decedent vanilla cream cheese icing. Recipe makes approximately 16 cupcakes.

Ingredients

Chai Tea Cupcakes
  • 1 and ¾ cups pastry flour
  • ¾ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp ground ginger
  • ¼ tsp ground clove
  • ½ tsp fresh cracked black pepper
  • ½ cup unsalted butter unsalted butter at room temperature
  • ¼ cup maple syrup
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 3 egg whites at room temperature
  • ¼ cup whole milk at room temperature
  • 2 tsp Amoretti® Vanilla Madagascar Bourbon Water Soluble Extract 2x
  • ½ cup sour cream at room temperature
  • 2 tbsp. Amoretti® Chai Tea Compound
Vanilla Bean Cream Cheese Icing
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 8 oz cream cheese, room temperature
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp Amoretti® Natural Vanilla Bean Artisan Flavor

Directions

Chai Tea Cupcakes
  1. Preheat oven to 350 F.
  2. Line a full 12-cup muffin pan and half of a second one.
  3. Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, ginger, clove and pepper into a large bowl.
  4. In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with whisk attachment or with a hand mixer beat butter, sugar and maple syrup together until smooth.
  5. Beat in egg whites until well combined
  6. Beat in milk, sour cream, vanilla extract. Compound until well combined. Scrape sides of bowl as needed.
  7. On low speed slowly add dry ingredients until just combined.
  8. Spoon batter into prepared muffin tin. Bake for 20-25 min or until a toothpick inserted into cupcake comes out clean.
  9. Let cool before frosting.
Vanilla Bean Cream Cheese Icing
  1. In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with whisk attachment or with a hand mixer beat butter and cream cheese until smooth.
  2. Add powdered sugar, vanilla Artisan, and salt. Mix until smooth. Scrape sides of bowl as needed.
Frosting Cupcakes
  1. Fit piping bag with your preferred tip and fill with icing.
  2. Top cupcakes with icing and dust with cinnamon.
