Caramel Apple Suckers
Caramel apple suckers are probably one of the most nostalgic Halloween candies there is, and guess what.. they are incredibly easy to make at home with just a few simple ingredients! The flavor of the sucker can also be customized by switching the Tart Apple Extract for any of our Water Soluble Extracts
Ingredients
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 water
- 1/3 light corn syrup
- 1-3 drops food coloring
- 1 tsp Amoretti® Tart Apple Extract Water Soluble
- 8-10 oz. chewy caramel candies
- Candy molds
- Sucker sticks
- Candy thermometer
Directions
- Insert sucker sticks into molds and lightly spray with non stick cooking spray
- Place molds in freezer
- Combine sugar, water and corn syrup in a sauce pan and heat until sugar is dissolved
- Insert candy thermometer and bring mixture to 300 degrees F (hard crack stage). You no longer need to stir at this point
- Let cool for a minute or two
- Add Extract and food coloring to desired color and mix well
- Remove molds from freezer and carefully pour candy mixture into them, pressing sticks back into place as needed
- Let cool for 2-3 hours
- Line a sheet pan with parchment paper
- Once suckers are cooled heat the caramel in a microwave or double broiler until melted
- Dip each sucker into caramel and press onto parchment paper.
- Let cool for about a hour
- Enjoy
Tips:
Cleaning your pan: You can easily remove any hardened candy from your pan by filling it with water and placing on the stove to dissolve anything stuck in the pan
Storing: You can store these in a food storage container, just line each layer of suckers with parchment paper to prevent them from sticking together. You can also wrap individually in treat bags like these
