Caramel Apple Cider Pie
Winter is almost here and what dessert screams winter more than warm apple pie! This isn't just your classic apple pie either, it is infused with the flavor of apple cider and creamy caramel. Recipe will yield 2 pies!
Ingredients
Filling:
- 5-6 green and red apples
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 tbsp flour
- 3/4 c granulated sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 2 tsp Amoretti® Natural Apple Cider Extract
- 3 pumps Amoretti® Crema di Caramel Syrup
- 2 pie shells
Topping:
- 1 c oats
- 1 c flour
- 1 c granulated sugar
- 1/2 c brown sugar
- 1 c butter (room temp)
Directions
Filling:
- Preheat oven to 350° F
- Peel and cut apples into thin slices and place into large bowl
- Add lemon juice and mix well
- Add flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, sugar and mix well
- Add Extract and mix well
- Prepare your pie shells by docking (poking holes)
- Add apples until shells are full
- Drizzle each pie with 3 pumps of Crema di Caramel Syrup
- Prepare the topping in a medium bowl by combining oats, flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and butter
- Once combined take small handfuls and place them on top of the pies to cover all apples
- Place on center rack and bake for 30 - 40 min
- Serve alone or with vanilla ice cream
